If crazy people would just stop doing insane things, then maybe we wouldn't use them to refer to crazy stuff. From Nobody's Business: Poor, Misunderstood Leatherface.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI, is unhappy with pop-culture depictions of psychopaths and serial killers.
