My own mini Firefox3 review

I've been using the Firefox 3 betas for a few months, and now actual release candidates are coming out of Mozilla HQ. I made the switch because Firefox 2 was causing the load on my work PC to spike randomly , leaving the machine useless for a stretches lasting seconds. The performance tweaks for memory usage and the rest seem to have done the trick, and even the v3 betas were better than their predecessor.

HOWTO: backup your Firefox bookmarks

I spent 10 minutes looking for an extension to do this, then found that its, smartly, built into Firefox's bookmark manager.  I'm not sure what this mindset is called, Extension Dependance?  Anyway, if you need to move bookmarks from one machine to the other in Firefox:
  1. From the Bookmarks menu, select Organize Bookmarks.

IE7 more prevalent, overall IE share of browsers is down.

News to make any Firefox fan sleep a little easier at night.  While Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)  is being installed more widely, its replacing installations of IE6.  That in and of itself shouldn't be that surprising.

Getting a better browser

Looks like Microsoft has given Mozilla, Opera, and other browser makers a small window of opportunity. Getting a modern browser

Came across a number of links today indicating that IE is dead and what anyone who wants a modern browser can do about it.  That's ok though - I've been installing Mozilla and related projects on friend's and family's PCs for a while now to help them upgrade. I don't think you even really need to mention that its not IE, just say - want me to upgrade your browser so that it blocks pop-up ads and gives you tabbed browsing?
