Verizon FIOS TV DVR
I recently swapped my old Series 2 TiVo for an HD-capable DVR from Verizon FiOS. While I love the fact that I can record high-def programming, I miss my trusty, user-friendly TiVo. Washington DC to get FIOS?

Maybe a merger would do them some good...
I was a big fan of Satellite TV going back to grad school. Back then, you could get a decent channel package for around $30/month, easily beating the price of cable. Even factoring in buying the Dish and Receiver, the savings at the time paid for themselves in under two years (at least in Blacksburg in the late 90s). I even used to brag how we didn't lose signal during the last hurricane to rumble through Northern Virginia.
But over the last year, I became greatly disatisfied with Dish Network, my former provider.

TivoHD for the rest of you
The long awaited TivoHD has been officially announced. Its Tivo's more affordable high-definition tuner, costing $299 compared to the Series3 which retails for almost $800.

Series 3 TiVo's out "soon"
From TivoBlog, news that Series 3 TiVo's are currently in beta testing and will be released ssoon. These will be the first units to include a CableCARD decoders (so that you can record digital content bypassing your cable provider's set top box) and HD.

New TiVo pricing plan
A common resason I hear for not getting a Tivo is a reluctance to pay a monthly fee for little more than the electronic TV guide. Never mind that your cable company also charges you a monthly fee for your DVR, or that the generic DVRs have a horrible user interface and don't have wonderful features like the SeasonPass.

Motley Fool on TiVo
The Motley Fool has a good feature looking at the outlook for TiVo from both a bullish and bearish perspective. I still have hope for TiVo, I know Sandy and Greg were impressed a bit when I pulled up my music collection to stream to my living room.
