Blue Screen of Death is "Anqas Toqu millay" - Filthy Blue Window is the best I could do. Microsoft releases language support for Quechua, one of the native languages spoken in Bolivia. Probably to less fanfare than they expected.

If like me or because of me, you've installed Thunderbird as your email client, you may have ignored some of the useful extensions that other users have written for the program. Below, are six extensions I recommend you install to make your email client of choice a little bit better and a lot more useful. Installing extensions is pretty easy. First, download the .xpi file (be careful that you don't install it in Firefox by mistake). Then, open the Tools->Extensions menu and click on the Install button in the lower left.
Lots of good numbers in today's reuters story about Apple profits. I want to focus your brian on the fact that Apple;s share of the US notebook market had "doubled to 12 percent" in the last half of 2005. This means that 1 in 9 new laptops out there is not running Windows. More importantly, 1 in 9 new laptops is not running Internet Explorer.
Mossberg answers a question in his mailbox column today, including the security threat posed by viruses to Apple's computers (unless you choose to run Windows on it, then you're just as vulnerable). His assessment also applies to computers running Linux. The common misconception is that virus writers don't target these platforms because they are not very popular. While this is true to an extent, it's a disingenous argument because it ignores the fact that Unix-like systems (Max OS X is based on BSD) it's much
Via my dad, comes this link to a PC World article asking "Do Burned CDs Have a Short Life Span?". The expert in the article suggests that for long term storage, use magentic tape to store files you want preserved for decades. For your average home user, burning copies to CD's I think is still feasible as well as copying the files to multiple machines/hard drives to hedge your bet.
Fascinating how the seemingly little decisions can make a crucial difference. But you also can't agonize and try to get everything perfect from the get go. This guy had $13 million to build a del.icio.us like service 5 years ago and it failed. Now, he's sharing what he's learned.
I dont think it was that we were "too early" or that we got killed when the bubble burst. I believe it all came down to product design, and to some very slight differences in approach.
It appears that since the "Broadcast Flag" was struck down, more HDTV tuner cards for PC's will be coming to the market. These cards are useful for hobbyists who want to build an HDTV DVR, instead of waiting for TiVo/Sony/Someone to sell one. Since next year's World Cup will be available in high definition, this may be a project to put on my todo list for next spring.
If you replace your phone in the next year, then the answer is yes. Communities Dominate Brands believes 2006 will be the year the iPod dies. Not necessarily because something technologically superior, but because cell phones are replaced so often and new models will have music playback built in. So a lot of people will acquire a mobile music device without really thinking about it.
