When I scan through my aggregator, I don't expect to ask my self "My sister is blogging about porn?" ;)

Goff chat errata

Posted on

Steve Goff did his latest chat on the washington post site yesterday. One of the questions, criticizing the playoff format states:

Last year's conference finals game at RFK against New England was the most entertaining MLS game I ever attended, and would not have been played under the new format as it was the second game in the series.

This didn't ring right, so I checked the league site for the 2004 MLS Playoff results. As I thought, the playoff format last year was the same as this year - with a one game conference final. I'm a bit surprised Goff, or a later poster, corrected that. And its further proof that I'm apt to remember the most obscure things.

An honest assessment of failure.

Fascinating how the seemingly little decisions can make a crucial difference. But you also can't agonize and try to get everything perfect from the get go. This guy had \$13 million to build a del.icio.us like service 5 years ago and it failed. Now, he's sharing what he's learned.

I don't think it was that we were "too early" or that we got killed when the bubble burst. I believe it all came down to product design, and to some very slight differences in approach.
