Web Data Analysis with PHP

Posted on

An interesting article on IBMP's developer works site touches on how to Take Web data analysis to the next level with PHP.

I was expecting an article geared toward getting more interesting metrics out of site access logs but the article focused on using chi-square tests with nominal data like survey results. This article was interesting but I think its less valuable for most web developers and site maintainers who are not using the web to collect experimental data but do want to get better stats on who's accessing their sites and how the site is being used.

Revamped Look

I've written the CSS behind the scenes to use ems (not points or pixels) so that the font size display respects a user's preferences, something which some human clients don't quite get yet.

I'm using an HTML form which fires an email to me. I'd put my email address on here but don't want to expose it to potential spammers. Of course, if you can't possibly GUESS just what my address is you're probably a few cards short of a full deck.

I'm not sure how many people will see this in a browser, Analog tells me that the majority of visitors who access this site use a news aggregator.
