Tech flaws in electronic voting

Jason Lefkowitz wrote about this two weeks ago and detailed how Fairfax County was not concerned with security flaws in system it purchased. Election officials pretty much admitted that they spent $3.5 million on a system they didn’t understand.

Meanwhile, one vendor, Diebold is trying to suppress information about flaws in its system which could make it east to rig elections. There is a growing civil disobedience movement to keep Deibold’s memos available as the company sends Cease & Desist letters to sites hosting the leaked memos.

What can you do? First, you should educate yourself about what is at stake by visiting the Verified Voting – Campaign To Demand Verifiable Election Results. You can also use the EFF’s site to send your representative’s a letter outlining your concerns on this issue.
