Washington Post has a good writeup about DC United rookie Josh Gros who went from the Marines to fighting for a developmental spot on the team. If anything, thanks to 10 weeks in basic training he should be in great shape for the upcoming season.
Before his senior year at Rutgers, unsure whether he had the talent to be a professional soccer player, Gros began to pursue his other passion: becoming a Marine. So for 10 weeks, Gros was enrolled in the prestigious Officer Candidates School at the Quantico base in Northern Virginia.
