I haven’t been able to post much in the last week. On top of trying to get enough work done so that we can go to LA for the MLS Cup, one of the hard drives on our server had to be replaced last Friday. Since then, I’ve been recovering/learning about how to install the cyrus imap server for storing and postfix for receiving mail. It’s been a long 3 nights to get everything back up.
Unfortunately, I didnt recover the actual mail folders so a lot of users lost mail. Luckily, I was saved by my powermac which kept a local copy of mine and my wife’s mail. After turning Airport off so that it couldn’t get on the network, I made 2 backups from it. One by copying the Mail folder in my Library folder. A second by highlighting all my messages and exporting to mbox format.
Tomorrow we fly out to LA to cheer on DC United in the MLS Cup.
