DC United wants to build itself a new stadium (privately financed)in Anacostia, and has found that putting on soccer clinics for kids is a good way to build goodwill with the community. Its also nice to see Alecko Eskandarian in that picture after he was out for the season due to a severe concussion.
"They wanted more opportunities for kids to play organized sports,"
said Doug Hicks, spokesman for D.C. United. So they started with
yesterday’s soccer clinic, where 300 kids signed up to come back in the
spring for a team.
